Helen & Co. was formed out of a desire to improve people’s mental well-being through organization and functional design. Over the last 10 years, Helen Austen has used her background in psychology and counseling to create spaces that fit your specific needs and habits without sacrificing style or comfort.
Owner Helen Austen is a professional organizer, interior designer and sought after national speaker who—along with her team—provides solid tools, systems and design solutions for individuals, families and businesses.
Helen has become a go-to expert on organizing and is now a regular contributor on morning television shows in Kansas City and Houston. Her work has also been featured in Woman’s World Magazine and on KCTV5, Fox4KC, KMBC Channel 9, NBC Action News 41, Kansas City’s NPR affiliate show Central Standard and many more.
“I love helping empower people to live full and happy lives,” explains Helen. “It’s at the very core of who I am. And I’m fortunate I get to do this through organizing and design.”
Your mental well-being is directly impacted by the conditions of your spaces. As a result, we don’t just focus your stuff, but we also focus on your unique needs and preferences to create spaces that are efficient and functional without sacrificing style.
It’s about alleviating stress and finding peace of mind. “Nothing surprises me anymore; I’ve just about heard and seen it all,” explains founder Helen Austen. “We’re all human and have our challenges. I accept people for who they are and where they are in life.”
Letting someone else see your home or clutter can feel embarrassing. And sharing personal or financial information can be unsettling. That’s why we work hard to ensure each client feels comfortable with us. From chronic disorganization to sensitive business matters, discretion and confidentiality are top priorities.

Michelle has a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration but gave up her career to be a homeschool mom. While working part-time, she homeschooled her three children for nine years, and during that time, sharpened her organizational skills. Two of her children have since graduated, and the youngest is now in middle school. In addition to her three biological children, she also has four step-children, including a stepdaughter with cerebral palsy, confined to a wheelchair. When Michelle isn’t organizing professionally, she works from home with her husband James as an SEO content writer for real estate websites. Organization of time and space is a must for Michelle with her jobs and large blended family, and she genuinely enjoys sharing organizational tips and tricks from her personal experiences.
Kelly O’Halloran has Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Family Studies from Kansas State University. She has worked in the Human Resources field for nearly a decade where she’s been able to gain a great deal of sensitivity and care for confidentiality, attention to detail, and a passion for helping people. When she’s not working, Kelly enjoys watching her stepchildren play sports, a good Netflix binge, and spoiling her adorable niece.
