Organized by Helen was formed out of a desire to help people create space and time in their lives for what they value most. Owner Helen Austen is a professional organizer, productivity expert and national speaker who—along with her team—provides solid tools, systems and solutions that offer real direction for families and businesses.

Having worked with clients in and around the Kansas City metro area, Helen serves as the resident expert organizer on Kansas City Live and her work has also been featured on KCTV5, Fox4KC, KMBC Channel 9, NBC Action News 41, KCMO Talk Radio's Dollars & Homes, and by the Lawrence Journal World. Clients benefit from her dedication, as she asks lots of questions to fully understand each individual’s personality, needs and habits. This, in turn, offers better chances at success in getting—and staying—organized. 

“I love helping empower people to live full and happy lives,” explains Helen. “It’s at the very core of who I am. And I’m fortunate I get to do this through organizing and coaching.”

Philosophy

Helen Austen, M.S.Senior Lead Organizer, Life Coach & National Speaker

Helen Austen holds a Master’s degree in Human Services with a graduate certificate in Professional Counseling. Prior to becoming a full-time professional organizer, Helen served as center director and counselor for a non-profit helping young families in crisis.

In early 2017, Helen became Kansas City Live’s resident expert organizer. 

Helen has two sons, one whom she foster/adopted through the foster care system in 2011. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, dancing and coaching new non-profit communities.

Erin V., B.A.- Associate Organizer

Erin

A life-long resident of Kansas City, Erin Vallier has been organizing professionally for over 3 years. Previously, she worked in the non-profit sector as a case manager for at risk families. She graduated in 2007 with a degree in Family Psychology. In addition to organizing, she provides respite care for a family with a special needs child. Being a devoted mom to three daughters, and a wife to her husband Hayden; Erin knows the challenges associated with staying organized. Erin enjoys running, being active in her local church, and meeting new people. Erin cofounded the Whole Family Care Center, a nonprofit that provides support for single parent families.

Mikel M.Associate Organizer

Mikel grew up an Air Force Brat, living all over the world. She and her husband met at an Air Force Base in middle school. Now they are living and raising their family in Kansas City and love it! Her mother-n-law became a young widow and joined Mikel and the family in Kansas City. Mikel knows how important organization is with a blended family of 6. She loves making a room organized, functional and beautiful.

Liz H.- Associate Organizer

Liz holds a bachelors degree in Dietetics and worked as a Registered Dietitian for ten years. During this time, it became evident that organization is a key part of reducing stress levels and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  Liz understands the challenges of a stressful and chaotic environment.  When her oldest son was 18 months old, she and her husband found out they were blessed to be pregnant with twin boys.  As her boys have grown, the importance of an organized home has become more evident.  It impacts mood, behavior, schoolwork, and schedules.  She has a passion for organizing and loves seeing the positive changes that occur from having an organized home.

Susi B.- Digital Organizer & Virtual Assistant

Susi

Susi came into the world in Berlin, Germany as an Army brat with a German mother, but has spent the majority of her life in the US. She now makes Kansas her home, and her two grown boys are living close by. She enjoys writing and contributing in any way she can to making this world a better place. Susi simply enjoys being a catalyst for good. Whether it is through dedication to and volunteering for the causes she loves, helping people in her paid position or by being a friend in the right moment at the right time. She wants to be there to help implement positive change.  Susi enjoys organizing her own life making it run as efficiently and as effectively as possible, but also helping others experience relief from the stress and chaos that can ensue when their lives are disorganized.
